Which H2O humidifier models fit the long size?
The taller H2O 400 fit these long filter wicks. As with the other wicks, you will still need to trim shorter to fit (easily done with scissors). Once trimmed, this wick also fits the H2O Mini, H2O 750, H2O UP, Milkbox and H2O 500. Note the long is the same as the standard, just longer, so when the standard is sold out, you can get the long and trim to size. Always keep your old wick to match the length to trim your new wick.
This is for ONE filter wick refill, which will last on average 3 months* Each measures 17.8cms long x 8mm diameter.
IMPORTANT: When changing wicks in most humidifiers, look for the small spring. Don't lose it! In most models it will be at the bottom of the wick cover and will stay put when changing the wick. Without it your humidifier won't run properly.
*How long does a humidifer filter core wick last?
It varies depending on use, but a core tends to last 1 to 6 months. It's recommended you check and replace your core every 3 months (4 times a year) to avoid preventable damage. Running in a dusty or smoky environment will mean your core needs replacing more often. Harder water with higher mineral content can also shorten how often you need to change the wick, as the wick helps prevent hard minerals blocking the mist outlets.
To extend the life of each core: keep surrounding surfaces wiped clean of dust, and floor area vacuumed / swept clean. You can also soak the filter in vinegar (just the filter, not the whole humidifier, always take the core out to soak it), about once a month to dissolve water deposits. Here's how to best care for your humidifier >
If you notice any mould or discolouration from dust / minerals etc, it's time to change the filter. Continuing to use a dirty or blocked filter can end up with dirt, dust or minerals making their way in to the filter itself and damaging your humidifier beyond repair. Look for yellowing or browning from the core and ends of the wick.
