Propagation Starter Pack with CLONEX

$31.97 NZD $41.97 NZD

*SAVE $10 when you buy these propagation essentials together*

(usually $41.97 when bought separately)

What's in your Starter Propagation Pack?

This pack includes: Yates CLONEX Rooting Gel for indoor plants, the Crew Mini Snips, a 3ml Pipette and 5 x Elho Mini Pots, the perfect pot size for cuttings whether propagating directly in to substrate, or in water first, then moving to a pot once ready.

What does Clonex do?

Clonex works a treat for initiating root development and growth when propagating cuttings.
There are 3 strengths in the Clonex range, Green, Purple and Red. Purple is the all-rounder for both soft and semi hardwood cuttings - making it the best formula for indoor plants. Clonex contains a blend of root growth hormones, anti fungal agents, vitamins and minerals in a stable gel base.

The key ingredient is IBA which are synthetic Auxins. Auxins both initiate and promote new root growth
Clonex also contains anti-fungal agents to help protect delicate cuttings from nasty fungal and microbial infections and disease. It's also got 12 essential macro and micro nutrients to feed newly emerging roots the nutrients they need, at the moment and place they need them, plus vitamins to reduce propagation and transplant stress.

To use Clonex, just dip and grow! Dip the freshly-snipped end of your cutting in to the Clonex gel to about 1.5cms, then plant in the substrate of your choice, or pop in water. If your cutting has more than one node under water, or in substrate, dab some rooting gel on those nodes also. Find out more about Clonex or jump to step 4 in the How to Propagate Indoor Plants guide for how to use it.

how to propagate

Not included with your starter pack, but also worth getting for your propagation toolbox...

Substrate: Fern Fibre is a great substrate for new cuttings, as is Hydromix, or just mix some Perlite in with your usual potting soil or succulent mix to create a more airy, free draining mix.

Potting mat
: No more mess! A Crew Potting Mat is awesome for dirty work anywhere and everywhere. No spills and easy clean up. Available in 4 colours and 3 sizes, from 50cms x 50cms up to 1 metre x 1 metre. I use mine all the time.

Propagation vase: You can use pretty much any small to medium vase for water propagation, a glass, a bud vase or even old jars, or get your plants a purpose-made propagation vase.

Fertiliser: Whether propagating in water or soil, plants needs 12 essential nutrients they can't get from water and light alone. Dyna-Gro Foliage Pro and Plant Runner are two popular choices for both water and soil propagation. With all these formulas being super concentrated, just one drop per vessel is plenty, or you can make up the full dose (1ml per 1 litre water) and refill from that. Using the pipette included in your Starter Propagation Pack make it easy to get small doses just right.

Growth booster: Groconut is by far the best selling growth booster, which you can use as a soak for new cuttings or before repotting, and can be used every time you water for 100% natural, organic source of natural plant growth hormones for your established plants also. It works even better when you mix-feed with fertiliser.

Cloning paste: Dab a bit of cloning paste on the mother plant to help her recover after you've taken off her growth tip. Apply to axillary buds to trigger growth of new leaves, stems and flowers. Also helps make plants bushier and branch out without having to cut off growth tips. The NZ made best seller is Urban Botanist cloning paste. There's also the popular Crazy Keiki cloning paste from the USA.

Heat pad: Roots need the right temperature to get growing, which is why propagating in winter can be such a struggle. The simple, slim Egmont Heat Pad is the best seller that creates the perfect temperature.

Grow house: A grow house, grow tank or prop box helps keep heat and humidity high, creating the ideal conditions for new cuttings and most of our baby house plants. Shop the popular Elho and Egmont grow houses.

"Super impressed with this business. Something that is lost nowadays, is customer service. This however is not the case with Anna from “Love that Leaf”. Very happy with my purchase, very happy with the product information provided and very happy with the quick shipping and great packaging. Thanks!" Melayna Anderson

"By far the best customer care I've had in a long time. Website is such a wealth of information and the email with instructions for use after my purchase was fantastic. The pipette for measuring the correct amount was such a great inclusion, and the personalised message on the package was very cool. Definitely my go to shop for plant supplies now.
