Sunroots Propagation Gel - 50ml
What is Sunroots?
Sunroots comes from the same kiwi team that brought Sunbulb grow lights to NZ indoor plant hobbyists. Sunroots is a 2 in 1 'root jumpstart' gel that immensely improves propagation results. The active ingredient is Indole-3-butyric acid, or IBA for short, in a protective gel base that makes it easy to 'dip-and-grow'.
What does Sunroots do?
Sunroots combines plant growth hormones with an anti-fungal treatment meaning it both seals and helps protect fresh cuttings from rot, while also triggering initial root growth faster than not using cloning gel. Sunroots also provides a boost of essential minerals and beneficial vitamins to fuel new root growth. For best results, once the first roots appear, follow up Sunroots with a root fertiliser (my go to is GT CCS).
Which plants is Sunroots for?
Sunroots is formulated for softwood to semi-hardwood cuttings, a fancy name for growth tip cuttings, and for cuttings taken when the stem is green, soft and pliable., normally from the last 1 to 2 season's growth. Older, harder growth is called hardwood, which is more the domain of outdoor gardeners (Yates makes a hardwood formula called Clonex Red).
How do you use Sunroots?
Dip and grow. Dip the freshly-cut end of your stem or leaf cutting in to the gel up to 1 to 2cms deep, gently shake off or wipe off the excess, then plant in the substrate of your choice, or in water.
The gel is absorbed very quickly by a newly cut stem, and doesn't need to stay in contact for long to work its magic. It almost instantly seals the cut to help protect from rot and infection. It also helps you avoid embolism where an air-bubble gets in to fresh cuts and blocks the uptake of water and minerals, causing rot instead of roots!
Although you can dip your cutting directly in to your jar of Sunroots, I'd recommend tipping some out in to a sterile container and dipping it that way, so there's no risk of contaminating the rest. Once initial root growth starts, best used with GT Clonex Clone Solution rooting fertiliser until ready to pot up.

Shipping is FREE for all orders over $99. For orders under $99: Auckland Standard $5, signature required is $7 or rural is $9. The rest of the North Island and the South Island: Standard $7, signature required is $9, or rural is $11. Plants and fragile or oversize products have their own rates (worked out in the cart based on your order).
