Organic Tri-Kelp Seaweed Powder by Seacliff Organics

$7.90 NZD

From the NZ team at Seacliff Organics (these guys REALLY know their soil), comes Organic Tri-Kelp Seaweed Powder. Freeze-dried for maximum nutrition for your plants. This super-concentrated, 100% water-soluble, super-food combines 3 of the most popular, proven, growth-promoting species for a health and growth boost in one. This is for the 50 gram resealable pouch.

Who are Seacliff Organics?

Using cutting edge mineral and soil food web analysis, Otago-based Seacliff Organics create world-class, balanced living soils and organic soil amendments that enable plants to express their full genetic potential.

Seacliff Organics focuses on organic inputs and source locally where possible. Producing small-batch soil blends and organic soil amendments, all right here in NZ. Taking it back to the fundamentals, always with a focus on waste reduction and sustainability.  Providing everything our plants need, where they need it, to ensure everything is available for uptake, when your plants require it.

What does tri-kelp do for plants?

Seaweed is like a super-food, with the best sources containing over 70 beneficial vitamins, enzymes and minerals to give plants a serious growth boost organically, while helping support a plant's natural defences.

Shown to help reduce transplant stress following planting and repotting. Naturally high in plant growth hormones auxins, cytokinins and gibberellins. Shown to speed up root and shoot growth in both established and young plants (especially popular for propagation to sped up root development and growth rate in cuttings).

If you're already familiar with the benefits of silicon (nature's bodyguard), Tri-Kelp is also a rich, natural source of silicon, proven to strengthen a plant's natural defences against both biotic and abiotic stresses, including under-watering, defence against pest-attack and root rot, as well as physically strengthen stems and roots.

Does tri-kelp replace fertiliser?

No, although kelp may offer far more beneficial nutrients than fertilisers, by itself it doesn't provide high enough levels of all essential macro- and micro-nutrients to replace fertiliser. Best mixed with fertiliser so tri-kelp can round-out your plant's nutrition and 'fill in the blanks' for what fertilisers can't supply.

Why is Seacliff Tri-kelp different from other seaweed products?

Like the name suggests, Seacliff Organics Tri-kelp is a blend of 3 of most popular growth-promoting species of seaweed, chosen for their superior qualities. Not just 1 species like most seaweed additives. Tri-kelp combines Laminaria, Sargassum and Ascophyllum Nodosum.

Another key difference is the form it comes in. Seacliff Tri-Kelp is freeze-dried to retain the maximum nutritional value of the kelp, in a concentrated, 100% water-soluble, powder form, making it easier to store and far more cost-effective to use. Less cost for you, more value for your plants.

At the standard dilution rate of 1 gram per 1 litre, Tri-Kelp averages just 15 cents per litre, and one 50gram pouch makes 50 litres of seaweed solution.

Directions for use

FOLIAR SPRAY

Houseplants: Dilute at the rate of 1 gram per 1 litre water (eg: 1/2 teaspoon per 2.5 litres or 1 teaspoon per 5 litres water). Apply as frequently as weekly to fortnightly or with every water during the growing season (I give all my indoor plants a seaweed feed once a month, all year round).

TIP: Applying seaweed to foliage using a spray mister is best done outdoors as seaweed powder is naturally brown in colour and may stain some indoor surfaces such as soft furnishings. If applying indoors, best applied as a soil drench instead. Can be mix-fed with liquid fertiliser.

Outdoor ornamentals, natives and lawn
: 10 grams (1 tablespoon) per 10 litres water, sprayed on foliage. Apply weekly to fortnightly, or with every water if less frequent.

Orchards and vineyards
: 10 grams (a tablespoon), per 10 litres water, up to 1kg/ha equivalent. Apply prior to flowering.

Broadacre crops and pasture: 100 - 200 g/ha in 60 - 100 litres water depending on canopy closure (apply as required).

SOIL DRENCH

Container plants, indoors and outdoors: Dilute as the same rate as houseplants and ornamentals above and top-water until potting mix is evenly saturated and water runs through. Apply monthly or as required. Can mix-feed with liquid fertiliser at the soil-drench dose.

Home gardens: For general use, dilute at a rate of 1 teaspoon per 9 litre watering can and water in.

ROOTING POWDER

Mix 1/3rd of a teaspoon per 1 litre water to create a 1:1000 solution. Dip cuttings in seaweed solution before transferring to your propagation medium of choice.

SEEDLINGS

Dip seedlings in 1:1000 solution (1/3rd teaspoon per 1 litre water) before planting, or apply as a soil drench directly following planting at 1kg/ha (equivalent of 1gm per 1 litre water).

Storage

Once opened, take care to keep product sealed and dry. Do not 'double dip' with wet tools. Store sealed in the fridge or in a cool, dry place indoors.
