Hey good looking
The soil tester inside is white with a black dial and silver probes. It helps you monitor moisture, light and pH levels in your soil for happier, healthier houseplants (you can use these for your outdoor plants too).
The settings
Simply slide the switch to the setting you want then gently push the probes into your soil to find out what's going on below the surface and test moisture level and soil pH. Or when it's time for a plant shuffle, use it on the light setting to find an ideal spot to match your plant's needs.
No batteries needed
The packaging may be fancy (swipe through the photos), but the magic is about what's not needed. No batteries required! And you only need one soil tester for your entire jungle.
Tips before you buy
After you order, I'll email you the simple tips for how to get the best results when using this type of soil tester. They look really simple (and they are), but there still some rights and wrongs to know so you get the most accurate readings.
Water meters do not work in all substrates. All your finer to medium, typical indoor and outdoor soils are perfect. However, very chunky or airy mixes (like a chunky bark-based mix for orchids), means you won't get accurate reading because the probes can't break into the chunks of bark to read the moisture inside them, so will read the air in-between.
Remember no water meter can tell you when to water, because you still need to take your plant's preferences into account (for example, a Peace Lily and a Cactus might both read dry, but knowing a Peace Lily prefers to be moist vs a Cactus that prefers to be dry, you might only water the Peace Lily). You still need to make the final decision and still need to take the other signs into account, like wilting.
What's included?
The box deserves a special mention. It makes this a lovely gift for a houseplant hobbyist. Normal 3-in-1 meters usually come unboxed with little or no instructions. This box includes detailed instructions and tips printed on the sides (swipe through the photos for a preview) and the water meter safety tucked inside.
