Growth Technology (GT) are the original creators of Clonex 20+ years ago and still the indoor plant hobbyists and gardeners favourite rooting gel for propagation success.

This is the original formulation of Clonex used the world over, in the Purple strength for propagation of indoor plants. Also known in NZ by the name Yates Clonex (GT makes Clonex for Yates).

What plants is Clonex Purple for?

Clonex comes in 3 strengths (Green, Purple and Red). This is Clonex Purple which is for softwood and semi-hardwood cuttings. Purple is the one you want for all indoor plant cuttings and wet sticks, and for softwood and semi-hardwood outdoor plants.

I've used it on all my indoor plants over the years... Philodendrons, Monsteras, Scindapsus, Epipremnum, Pothos, African Violets, Begonias (the list goes on!)... all with great success. I've even taken older, stubborn cuttings that were doing nothing, trimmed a little extra off the stem, dipped in Clonex, and it's finally made them root.

What does Clonex do?

🌱 Increases propagation success: Increases the strike rate of cuttings (that's the percent of cuttings that successfully develop roots and grow into a new plant).

🌱 Protects cuttings: Seals the cut, helping prevent infections and air embolisms (where air bubbles block cut stems from absorbing water and nutrients, preventing rooting). Help protect delicate cuttings from fungal and microbial infections and diseases such as stem and root rot.

🌱 Faster root growth: Source of auxins (plant root growth hormones), to support faster initial root formation.

🌱 Stronger roots: Supports development of stronger roots (and therefore healthier plants).

🌱  Feeds: Supplies 12 essential macro and micro nutrients and added vitamins to fuel growth of emerging roots.

The subject of numerous scientific studies over the years, Clonex consistently outperformed propagating powders and liquids across a wide variety of plant species to deliver increased strike rates and plant production, along with quicker and more prolific growth of stronger roots.

What's in Clonex?

A blend of root growth hormones, anti fungal agents, vitamins and minerals in a stable gel base. Unlike most cloning pastes, gels and powders; Clonex also helps protect from common issues when propagating like rot.

How do you use Clonex?

Dip and grow! Dip the cut end of the stem into Clonex gel to a depth of about 1.5cms. Tap off the extra, leaving a thin layer of Clonex around the cut, then transfer your cutting into water or your substrate of choice.

Unlike some powders and liquids, Clonex is not mixed with talc, or dissolved in water. It's super concentrated and instantly and completely seals the cut tissue.

With so little needed, 50mls goes a LONG way so this one bottle will last you a long time. Store in a cool, dry place out of direct sunlight and away from temperature extremes. Can be stored in the refrigerator in hot weather (do not freeze). One bottle lasts 2 years once opened providing good storage.

"This product is amazing for propagating cuttings. Another magic tool I needed in my planty toolbox. Highly recommend." Kim G
