What does Oxy 3% do?
🪴 Regular use boosts oxygen levels for root health and growth,
🪴 Helps control soil pests like fungus gnat maggots and root aphids,
🪴 Combats common fungal and bacterial plant diseases including root rot,
🪴 Sanitises soil and soil-free potting mixes, semi-hydro, hydroponics and tissue culture, including leca and pon,
🪴 Controls waterborne pathogens and pollutants including algae, slime, fungus, spores and biofilm in hydroponics, tissue culture and semi-hydro,
🪴 Disinfects pots, tools and trays,
What's in Oxy 3%?
Pure 3% strength hydrogen peroxide and distilled water.
Developed for horticulture use, with NO additives.
Breaks down cleanly into water and oxygen with no harmful residues.
Plant-safe, pet-safe, people-safe once dry.
Directions for Oxy 3%
Same product, applied at different strengths, handles every task.
Use as a regular preventative to reduce the risk of nasties coming knocking, or dose for targeted control of these plant problems...
Spot-test recommended before first full-plant use. Always dilute before applying to foliage. When spraying on foliage, keep out of direct sun and turn grow lights off until dry.
ROOT HEALTH & GROWTH
50mls per 1 litre of water
Water into growing medium to boost oxygen levels for root health and growth. Repeat as often as every second water.
TREATS ROOT ROT
Equal parts Oxy 3% and water
Drench substrate to eliminate pathogens that cause root rot and aid root recovery. Repeat in 7 days if symptoms persist.
CONTROLS SOIL PESTS / FUNGUS GNATS
150ml per 1 litre of water
Thoroughly wet or soak growing medium. Repeat every 7 days as needed if larvae are still present.
CONTROLS ALGAE / SLIME / BIOFILM
15ml per 1 litre water
Add into your water reservoir to help prevent algae, slime and biofilm build-up as part of regular maintenance for a clean, healthy hydroponics or semi-hyro system.
CLEANS / SANITISES / DISINFECTS
Use full strength (do not dilute)
Soak and/or wipe pots, tools and trays. Rinse and air dry.
How does it work?
Hydrogen peroxide is nicknamed Nature's cleaner.
Naturally present in rainwater, it breaks down quickly into oxygen and water, destroying harmful microbes in the process such as spores, fungi and bacteria.
The intense oxidation also ruptures soft-bodied soil pests like gnat larvae and root aphids.
Can you mix Oxy 3% with fertiliser in the same water?
Maybe or no, it partly depends on the fertiliser or other nutrients, and partly on the strength of hydrogen peroxide. If you'd like to combine them, read this in full first...
Hydrogen peroxide shouldn't affect synthetic minerals in the fertiliser, but can break down organic nutrients, such as iron if it's chelated, and organic-based fertilisers and nutrients like GT Rootzone and seaweed (it is NOT recommended to mix GT Rootzone or GT CCS with hydrogen peroxide for that reason).
Adding both nutrients and hydrogen peroxide to the same water is unlikely to change the effectiveness of the hydrogen peroxide if used fresh, but might change how much of the nutrients actually end up making it to the roots.
If you add hydrogen peroxide, add it last, to the already diluted nutrient solution, then use it straight away. Don't leave it sitting mixed for later, always use fresh.
As it's not possible to test or list every possible combination at every dilution rate, watch for any negative reactions when mixed, and keep in mind it is off label use, so a test application is recommended first.
At the very low levels - like for algae prevention - interractions are much less likely to occur. At higher rates, like for fungus gnats, use hydrogen peroxide with water only.
Safety
The 3% concentration of hydrogen peroxide is safe to use without gloves, but if you have sensitive skin wear gloves as a precaution.
After use, wash hands with soap and water. The nature of hydrogen peroxide can dry the skin so if you get it on your skin by accident, moisturise after washing to rehydrate.
For use by adults only, keep out of reach of children. For use on houseplants and ornamental plants, not for food crops.
Not intended for skin care or ingestion by humans or animals. Breaks down quickly into oxygen and water. People and pet-safe once dry.
Science
Hydrogen peroxide is well studied with hundreds of scientific studies, quantitative and qualitative reports.
