Originally formulated for the Kew Royal Botanic Gardens, home to the world renowned annual Kew Orchid Festival in London's Princess of Wales Conservatory. GT Orchid Focus GROW meets the unique needs of orchids during the vegetative phase (growing foliage), and GT Orchid Focus BLOOM their very different needs during the reproductive phase (flowering). Together you have your orchids nutritional essentials covered, year-round.
Make it a gift
These two together made the perfect gift for an orchid-loving loved one. Even better? Pick up an orchid in bloom from your local supermarket or garden centre to complete the gift.
So much better than a bunch of flowers. Similar price to a bouquet but instead of just one or two weeks of flowers, a typical living orchid in bloom will flower for MONTHS. Then live to flower again, year-after-year.
What's in GT Orchid Focus?
All 12 essential nutrients orchids need, and nothing they don't. Low-salt formulas with no urea, chlorides or sodium, guaranteed. Safe for salt-sensitive orchids. pH balanced to emulate their natural, slightly-acidic habitat. High in calcium to help avoid bud blast where buds form but fail to flower.
Why 2 formulas?
Orchids need the same 12 essential minerals, but amounts required change depending on the lifecycle phase. The biggest nutritional variation is between mineral requirements during the vegetative phase (when growing foliage), versus the reproductive state (when flowering).
During the vegetative phase, mineral requirements are not the same as the reproductive phase, requiring the shift from a bloom to a grow formula, supporting the growth required for repeat blooming next season.
During the reproductive phase, a drop in nitrogen is a key difference to shift a plant's focus from foliage to flowering, with phosphorus, potassium, calcium levels and more all different also.
When to change from Bloom to Grow
If you don't know your plant's usual cycle from the grower or last season's growth, you can shift from GROW to BLOOM at first sight of a new spike or bud. It's best to know your plant's cycle and shift to bloom before the first season's spike appears. Continue feeding BLOOM until flowering finishes, then shift to GROW.
