TEKU 11 clear pots measure a smidge under 11cms tall, are 11cm wide across the top and just under 8.5cm wide across the base.

These are the new design TEKU with even better drainage*. Hands down the best drainage of all the clear pot brands I've tried.

But wait, there's more...

TEKU pots are like Transformers: More than meets the eye. At first glance you see an extra-clear pot for your indoor plants. You can use them by themselves, or pop them in a cover pot, depending on whether your plant is epiphytic or not, making them suitable for all plants. You can play I Spy and keep a watch on those roots and substrate moisture levels. Job done. But there's more. What you don't see until you turn it over is the clever base design.

Elho or TEKU or Rain?

Clear: Teku, Rain
Frosted: Elho
Thicker and sturdier: Elho
UV safe for indoor and outdoor use: Elho
Made of recycled plastic: Elho
Recyclable: Teku, Rain, Elho
Rounded edges on base to avoid scratching surfaces: Teku, Elho

What really sets Teku apart is the drainage. With root rot a concern all house plant hobbyists share, drainage is a key factor that reduces the risk of root rot. by helping get rid of that dreaded perched water table, while increasing vital oxygen for roots.

What cover pots do they fit in?

11cm TEKU are a perfect match with:

12.5cm Elho Brussels cover pots
13cm Elho B.For Original cover pots
14cm Elho cover pots in Brussels, B. For Soft and Vibes

If you do go up a size to a 13 or 14 cover pot, you'll have a little more room around the sides and may need a handful of pebbles underneath your TEKU pot, in the base of your cover pot, to lift the plant up if you prefer it to sit higher (good way to add weight for top-heavy plants too).

All about that base

TEKU is the Kim Kardashian of the nursery pot world. Famous for their bottom. Their base design is surprisingly impressive for a piece of plastic (that's not to say Kim's bum is plastic, just that's they're both famous for their bottoms).

TEKU pots have unique asymmetrical drainage channels which increases drainage and also makes them more stable on mesh and wire surfaces. They have these neat 'U' shaped slots you can push plant stakes in to for better stability to support your plant. But what really sets TEKU apart is drainage.

The placement and number of drainage holes provides faster, better drainage for happier roots and to help avoid root rot. It gets water out of your substrate much faster. The clever taller, higher drainage slots help prevent roots sitting in residual water that collects at the bottom to avoid a perched water table. No wet feet! Both the tall drainage slots and domed drainage holes help increase aeration.

The new design TEKU pots now have rounded edges to reduce the risk of scratching your nice plant shelves, and a new non-slip pattern on the base to help avoid slipping and sliding.

What plants are clear pots best for?

First-off, all plants, because clear pots can just be put in cover pots. They don't have to be used by themselves. However clear pots are best used by themselves, without a cover pot, for epiphytic plants and climbers, like Orchids and most Aroids, so roots get maximum light. But you can use clear pots for all your plants (just lift them out of their cover pot to check the roots and substrate moisture level when it's time to water). Clear pots are great for leca too by the way. No more guessing where that water level's up to.

What plants are epiphytes?

Clear pots are also known as Orchid Pots for a reason. Orchids are probably the best known in the family of epiphytes, but you might be surprised how many of your indoor plants would love a clear pot.  An epiphyte (pronounced 'ep-eh-fight'), is a plant that grows on another plant or object for physical support. The word epiphyte comes from a combo of epi, meaning upon, and phuton, which is Greek for plant. Epiphytes are most common in moist, tropical regions where they have to get up high to gain access to sunlight in dense, shaded forests.

The best-known epiphytes are Orchids, including Phalaenopsis, Cattleya, Dendrobium and Oncidium, but there are also Ferns like Bird's Nest and Staghorn, Cacti, Bromeliads, MossAroids, Philodendron and more that grow epiphytically (phew, what a mouthful). Most plant groups have species in the family that are epiphytes, and with their lower nutrient and water requirements, epiphytes tend to do well kept as indoor plants.
