Which plants is GT FLOWER Focus for?

Who are GT?

Growth Technology are known in the industry as GT. The clever chaps behind world-famous Clonex (marketed here Yates). GT have created specialist crop-specific formulas called GT Focus. Although every GT formula is different, there are some things that stay the same...  

Calcium

Calcium is essential, yet most fertilisers don't include it. Common signs of calcium deficiency are:

• Buds that fall off or brown and die before plants flower 
• Cracked, split, cupping or curling, weaker leaves
• Twisted or deformed new growth
  
  

All GT formulas include calcium, immediately available to plants. No guesswork needed with supplements. No human foods needed that can attract Fungus Gnats or take ages to break down. 

Free of Urea

The most common nitrogen source in fertilisers, however harder for potted indoor plants in soil-less potting mixes to convert into life-giving nitrogen, increasing the risk of both deficiencies, and fertiliser burn. GT Focus is guaranteed urea-free. 

No Chlorides

Potassium Chloride tops the list for the highest-salt index of all common fertiliser ingredients. High levels can scorch foliage and stunt growth, change soil pH, turning safe nutrients toxic, putting plants at risk of an early, yet preventable death. All GT formulas guaranteed free of chlorides.

Complete + Balanced

Most fertilisers provide Nitrogen (N), Phosphorus (P) and Potassium (K). 'The Big 3' plants need the most of, but not all 12 that plants need. GT provides all 12 essential minerals needed to support flowering. Missing nutrients is why some flowering plants simply won't flower until all their mineral needs are met. 

Check the label. GT provides all 12 essential nutrients. GT Focus is formulated for indoor plants. That means no nickel (for cereal crops like barley and legumes), no cobalt (for legumes like peas), and no sodium (for C4 plants like spinach). pH Buffered

Even if you provide all 12 essential minerals, if the pH is wrong, nutrients can be locked in the soil. Maintaining an average pH of 6 keeps all 12 essential nutrients safe and available. GT Focus is pH buffered to maintain the ideal pH.

Chelated Minerals

Pronounced 'key-lay-ted' (like a key in a door). For plants to utilise the essential metal minerals, they need to be in a water-soluble form. Chelating attaches organic molecules to metal minerals such as iron, keeping them water-soluble, unlocked and available. GT Focus uses chelated metal minerals to help avoid deficiencies. 

When to change from FOLIAGE to FLOWER

If you don't know your plant's usual cycle, shift from FOLIAGE Focus to FLOWER Focus at first sight of a new spike or peduncle, or new buds on existing spurs. It's best to know your plant's cycle and shift to FLOWER before the first spike or buds appear. Continue feeding FLOWER until flowering finishes, then shift back to FOLIAGE. 

During the vegetative phase (growing foliage), mineral requirements are not the same as the reproductive phase (flowering), requiring a change in minerals provided to support the growth required for repeat blooming next season. During the reproductive phase, a drop in nitrogen is a key difference to shift a plant's focus from foliage to flowering, with phosphorus, potassium, calcium levels and more different also. Directions for Use

General maintenance

For soil / potting mix: 3 to 5mls (1 teaspoon), per 1 litre water. For hydro and semi-hydro: 5 to 7 mls per 1 litre water. 

Adjust dilution rate according to aplant's needs: For light feeders use the lower range of 3mls GT per 1 litre water. For heavy feeders or fast growers up to 10mls (2 teaspoons) per 1 litre water. For a 'mixed jungle' (a broader collection of different flowering plants), use the general maintenance range, every time you water.

To avoid irreversible deficiencies in immobile nutrients (such as calcium), it's recommended to fertilise with GT Focus every time you water.
