Inkbird Plus DUAL - Heat Pad with Temperature Controller - 52 x 25 cms

$49.90 NZD

New model

For not too much more than the Inkbird Plus, the new Inkbird Plus DUAL heat mat includes an in-line temperature controller that both monitors the current temperature and allows you to set the heat mat temperature. The ideal range for plant root growth is 20 to 30 degrees for seedlings, propagation and temperature-sensitive plants, but this mat can heat right up to 50 degrees if needed for tasks like fermenting, yogurt, baking and brewing.

Why get the Inkbird Plus DUAL heat mat?

  • The new model has an upgraded heating film that reaches temperature faster, and maintains a more stable, gentle heat that's more evenly distributed throughout the mat surface.
  • Waterproof: Rated IP67. Waterproof against spills and misting. Simply wipe dry.
  • Increases success rate for cuttings and germination. Seeds and cuttings germinate and root faster and roots produced are stronger.
  • Super thin and flexible. Can be rolled up or stored flat. Mat measures 52cms long x 25 cms.
  • 30 watts for reaching higher temperatures faster.
  • Just over 70 inches /  178cms cord length with 25 inches / 64cms cord length from the mat to the controller, then 45 inches /114cms cord length from controller to plug. Comes with NZ plug
  • This new model also has improved cord insulation for use indoors and out, including in higher humidity environments such as greenhouses.

What can heat pads be used for?

Don't let winter stop you. Keep propagating, growing and repotting all year-round.  Warmth speeds up root growth and grows stronger roots while keeping cold-tolerant tropicals warm over winter. Combine your new Inkbird PLUS heat mat with a grow light for even better results. Put your heat mat under a prop tank, grow house or cabinet, or just pop seedling trays or pots directly on top (yes, Inkbird PLUS heat mats are waterproof too, rated IP67).

Warmth speeds up root growth and recovery after repotting. But heat mats are not just for the babies. Also a great way to keep tropical-loving indoor plants warm over winter and to look after your high-maintenance jungle members. I use mine for my Ikea cabinet (last winter I had a heat mat on 24/7 under my prop tank terrarium). A warmer root temperature also helps stressed or struggling plants recover.

Heat mats also help over-watered plants dry out faster, reducing the risk of root rot in winter. Great for an emergency fix for accidental over-watering all year-round. Heat mats also mean you can repot all year-round. Maintaining a root temperature of over 20 degrees helps roots recover and start growing again following repotting or after removing damaged roots after root rot.

You can also start and grow bulbs, seeds and seedlings all year-round indoors. Most seeds won't germinate unless temperatures are between 20 to 30 degrees. With a heat mat and decent light you can grow herbs like oregano, parsley, sage, thyme, chives and more indoors, even in winter.

The 30 watt Inkbird Plus Dual reaches higher temperatures (up to 50 degrees), compared to the 20 watt Inkbird Plus, so for tasks like yogurt bacteria (typically needing around mid 40's), this Dual model is the better choice.

How does the Dual temperature controller work?

The controller is in-line with the cord and set relatively close to the mat end (the cord measurements are above for how much cord there is either side of the controller), to help with more accurate temperature readings. Press the power button on the controller first to turn it on. It's automatically set to 35 degrees by default. Then simply use the + and - to adjust the set temperature. A short press adjust the temperature 1 degree at a time. Use a long press for faster adjustment.

The dual display shows you both the current temperature and the set temperature that you want the mat to reach / maintain. When you set it to the highest temperature (50), the mat will take about 30 minutes to reach maximum temperature (based on air temperature being 20 degrees).

If you need to set both a minimum and maximum, or set a different temperature for daytime vs night-time, you want the Inkbird Plus heat mat along with the Inkbird ITC-206T controller (that controller kit also includes a temperature probe for more accurate temperature readings, so if you need more accuracy for brewing for example, get that combo rather than this Inkbird Plus Dual).

What size is it?

The Inkbird PLUS Dual heat mat measures 52cms long by 25cms wide and is about 2mms thick. A standard size for a seedling heat mat, but thinner than most.

Terrific product

This product is excellent and great value for money. Having the thermostat is indeed a game changer and everybody has cardboard or another insulating material to sit the mat on. My tiny tomato plant grew at least 10cm in 1 week. The basil seeds were up in 2 days. It will be very easy to store between seasons. I'm so happy with it. Raising plants from seeds has become very easy and satisfying.

Reliable Germination

This is my first heat mat. I’m thrilled with the results. I’m onto my second batch of seeds. The first batch only needed it for I think it was 6 days and I got germination consistently in every single cell across 5 different plant varieties. I combined it with the photo+ led light plant wands.
I’m in an area where temperatures are so mild that seeds germinate fairly reliably in spring anyway. But the speed and consistency has me sold on the value of a heat mat.
I really like the ease of use of this model and the size means I can get a lot of seeds going in one batch.

Perfect heating option.

I’ve used a range of heat pads over the years and for me, this unit has been the best. The controller is a game changer, easy to use and gives an excellent range of adjustment. My plants have grown well with the additional heat.
