Grow Vertical Sixty - 60cms CLEAR (from $14 each)
*$15.90 for one or save $5.70 & get a 3 pack for $14 each*
As good-looking as they are good for your plants. Both extendable and expandable. Sleek design. Strong and sturdy enough for even your chunky aroids. Giving your plants the support they need has never looked this good. Grow Vertical combines the perfect hybrid of form and function to support your plants.
Available in 2 sizes: the Forty and Sixty. The Forty measures 40cms tall x 6cms wide and the Sixty measures 60cms tall x 10cms wide. Available in 2 colours: Black or Clear. This is the Sixty in Clear for your medium to larger climbers.
Designed by professional grower Tim Bardsley. Made in Australia.
Fast, easy assembly
No tools or cable ties needed. Just add substrate. Best with spag moss, Fernwood Fern Fibre or Wildvine Grow Pole Blend. See the step-by-step assembly directions below.
Extendable
Gently tapered design makes these the easiest one-piece pole to extend. Simply slide the new pole in and you're done! Designed so the front slots align beautifully for an almost seamless extension. If needed, you can secure the poles together with cable ties using the pre-drilled holes top and bottom.
More room for roots
Larger, angled cut-outs gives maximum room for roots to grow into the pole, while making it much easier to remove roots later to change poles or propagate. No need to cut roots or the pole.
Larger leaves, faster
Gives climbing plants the support they need, easy nutrient access and extra root space to quickly size-up and produce their mature leaf form with less internodal space. Less leggy, more leaf!
Expandable
Two pole volumes to choose from. Choose standard or high-volume capacity for more root room. Start at standard volume and expand later, or go for maximum volume from the start.
Dual push-lock tabs
Unique dual push-lock tabs design keeps tabs firmly in place, yet easily unlocked later to change the substrate or shift to a new plant, without the need to cut the pole or break the tabs. Stronger than yet more flexible than other poles for an extended lifetime.
Low maintenance
Most moss poles are high maintenance. Drying out fast and needing watering more often than before the plant had a pole. Grow Vertical's double-layer, closed-back design cuts down on the high watering frequency needed to maintain other moss poles. The design naturally funnels water down to where it's needed without spilling, and wets the substrate more evenly top to bottom.
Completely reusable
Thick and flexible. Made to last. Easy to disassemble and refill again to change substrates, or change plants. Reuse again and again.
How to assemble your Grow Vertical Forty
I find these the easiest one-piece poles to assemble thanks to the thicker yet more flexible material and clever dual push-lock tab system, but do check the directions below as like all poles, there's a quick learning curve.
STEP 1 Fold along the pre-scored fold lines, either side of the front of the pole (keep the logo on the outside). I like to add substrate at this stage, but you can add substrate later.
STEP 2 On the back, one side has one row of tabs, the other has two rows of slots. Slide the tabs side, over the top of the slots side, and decide what volume you'd like (choose from two pole volumes depending on which row of slots you choose).
STEP 3 Using the image below as a guide, push tab A down and slide it into slot A.
STEP 4 Using the image below as a guide, push tab B down and slide it into slot B to lock the tab firmly in place. Repeat steps 3 and 4 along the length of the pole to complete assembly.
Substrate first or assemble first?
I prefer substrate first for these but you can do it after assembly also. Once folded (step 1), with the front of the pole face down, spread your chosen substrate over the slots. Bring the tabs side and slots side together over the top of the substrate, and connect to form your pole.
How to put your pole in your pot
There are 2 options. I usually give a plant a pole at the same time as I repot the plant, so I just bury the bottom few cms of the pole in the pot and the substrate keeps it in place, job done. However for extra security, you can cable tie your pole to your pot. No need to repot. Your pole has pre-drilled holes for this purpose. Get some cable ties and make some holes in your pot.
How do you secure the plant to the pole?
It won't take long for your plant's aerial roots to secure itself, however to start with you do want to clip or tie the stem/s against the pole. With the black Forty and Sixty I like plant velcro in black to blend in with the pole, good for chunkier stems like Monstera and other thicker-stemmed Aroids. With the clear Forty and Sixty there's the green plant velcro to blend with the plant. The dark green plant clips are good for the black poles also, and my preferred option for thinner or multi-stemmed plants like Syngonium, or clear plant clips with the clear poles. Another solution are soil pins.
This is for the pole only, substrate not included. Any plants or other accessories shown in photos not included. Spagmoss, Fern Fibre and Wildvine Grow Pole Blend are all available here to compare in Substrates >
