What are they for?
These small, reusable stem clips - also called Orchid Clips or Hoya Clips - secure your plant's stems to stakes and supports. These clips work with mesh type support poles too, like the Grow Vertical and Gentle Garden brands, as well as plant stakes like Botanopia, wooden sticks, bamboo stakes, and plastic stakes like the Elho Trellis and Crew Trellis.
What size are they?
These are the smaller size claw clips made for plants (the bigger ones you sometimes see are made for our hair). These measure just under 1.5cms x 1.5cms, a perfect fit for the teeth to slip around and inside the mesh on the Grow Vertical poles (swipe through the photos to see them used with a stake versus a mesh pole).
Which plants are they good for?
These clips are a great size for most thinner to medium thickness stems, including Hoya, Pothos, Philodendron, Epipremnum, Orchid flower spikes and more. For thicker stems go for plant velcro instead.
Popular for securing indoor climbers with finer stems, like Hoya and Ivy around loops and shapes. And of course for securing Orchid bloom spikes to stakes, which is where they get their 'orchid clips' name from. Check out the photos showing the clips being used to secure a finer-stem Hoya Australis Lisa and a Syngonium Mojito.
These are a dark green colour to blend in with stems, and have 3 interlocking 'teeth' either side, on a metal spring that easily opens and closes, making them super easy to reposition. No fiddly wrapping around, tying or untying needed.
Great wee product
Exactly what I needed.
Absolutely love these, great for climbing plants, blend in well with Moss poles a must for starting the climber's love love love
Super fast easy receipt of the goods.
I tried these to pin up some climbing basil against a pole to stop it drooping but if you get a good gust of wind, it will tear the plant at it will go back to drooping again. I can see them being useful for climbing houseplants but not fragile outdoor plants. Be very observant when purchasing these as well because they are very tiny and they are meant for securing tiny stems to structures. They are not what I originally purchased them for so I cannot give them an accurate rating. .
Hi Rosalie, thank you for your review, however you're quite right, the claw clips are intended - as advertised - for use for indoor plants (not for outdoors), for securing thinner-stemmed indoor plants to support poles. They won't withstand use outdoors, both because the plastic is not UV rated and because they are not the size or strength needed to withstand outdoor weather. They were not describe or made for that use. Anna @lovethatleaf

"Super impressed with this business. Something that is lost nowadays, is customer service. This however is not the case with Anna from Love that Leaf. Very happy with my purchase, very happy with the product information provided and very happy with the quick shipping and great packaging. Thanks!" Melayna Anderson
"By far the best customer care I've had in a long time. Website is such a wealth of information and the email with instructions for use after my purchase was fantastic. The pipette for measuring the correct amount was such a great inclusion, and the personalised message on the package was very cool. Definitely my go to shop for plant supplies now.
