The newest clear pots in the RAIN range are these self-watering pots available in two sizes, mini or small. This is for the mini.
When you order one pot, you'll get a set of 3 separate pieces that fit together make up one self-watering kit. You get the inner pot with drainage, outer pot without drainage and wick (all included).
The outer pot has marked measurements from 30mls up to 120mls on one side, making it easy to work out your nutrients and track water use, as well as a refill spout on one side for easy refilling without having to remove the plant or even pick up the pot.
A perfect size for propagation of alocasia corms, small / short wet sticks, and small leaf cuttings for indoor plants, baby plants, seedlings and succulents.
Size
The RAIN MINI Self Watering Pot measures:
Top width 4.8cms
Bottom width 3.8cms
Total height 9cms
Inner pot height by itself 4.8cms
Outer pot height by itself 7.5cms
Wick length approximately 20 to 25cms (this will vary)
Allow 2mms on all measurements
Wick or no wick?
These self-watering pots can work with the wick or submerged self-watering methods, just adjust your water level in the reservoir to suit, either below the pot with the wick in the reservoir, or higher up so the bottom of the substrate is partially submerged.
Best substrate options
Can be used with the majority of substrates that work for the plant, but do take the inner pot size into account. Check the properties of each substrate to help you decide.
My favourites: Bio Leaf mix for Moisture Lovers, Stratum and other brands of aqua soil in general, (the stratum and perlite mix from Rare Plantation is a great one), Fern Fibre, Lechuza Pon and Bio Pon (in Bio Pon I'd go for the fine size for better wicking in this pot size).
