Crew Mini Propagation Kit - from $2 each

$4.60 NZD

"These are absolutely amazing I have cuttings in mine that I thought were gone but upon putting pretty much dead cuttings in here I am amazed they are living and growing. Couldn’t ask for better." Amber Chapman

*Get a set of 2 for $2.30 each, or get your grow on with a set of 8 for just $2 each*

Get the propagation party started right with these neat Mini Propagation Kits. Each kit includes a clear mini pot with drainage holes, clear mini saucer, and to keep the warmth in and humidity up for successful propagation all year round, the clear humidity dome with adjustable airflow vent built in to the top is included too.

These come in sets of 2 or set of 8

As you can tell by the price from as little as $2 per kit, these aren't blow-your-socks off high-end quality by any means, but they aren't single use throw-aways either. Made of thin, flexible plastic, so not as sturdy or thick as the Rain or Teku clear pots, but they are  definitely reusable and the adjustable humidity dome and saucer are included.

What size are they?

Put together, the entire kit measures 15cms tall. The mini pot by itself is 8.5cms wide across the top, 7.5cms tall and a smidge under 6cm wide across the bottom for good stability.

The pot has 8 decent sized drainage holes and the bottom of the pot is designed to line up with the saucer so it sits securely in the saucer. The mini saucer measures 7cms square and just under 0.5cm high

The humidity dome is made of thinner plastic than the pot and saucer to let maximum light through, measures just under 9cm tall and 9cm wide, and clips neatly over the edge of the mini pot. Tall enough to give you plenty of room to get those seedlings and cuttings off to a great start. Once potted up, it's best to lift these from the pot, not the dome, as the dome likely wouldn't stay clipped on once the weight of substrate is added to the pot.

Everything is crystal clear, much clearer than the thicker Teku and Rain clear pots. So easy to keep an eye on root health once your seed or cuttings roots, and easy peasy to judge moisture level too.

What comes included?

The set of 2 is for 2 of everything. 2 clear mini pots, 2 clear mini saucers, and 2 clear humidity domes with adjustable air vent built-in to the top. Plants or other accessories shown in some photos not included but lots of substrates > options available separately.

What substrates are best?

Up to you really! My go-to propagation substrates vary depending on what I'm growing. Have fun and experiment with them. Here's some of my favourite substrate and plant pairings...

I tend to use spag moss for most of my Philodendron, Pothos (that's a baby Golden Pothos in spag moss in the photos), Epipremnum, African Violets and Syngonium cuttings and babies.

For Hoyas my first pick is normally Fern Fibre, but I'm getting great results with Lechuza Pon also.

For propagating plants that dislike drying out, I'm loving the Bio Leaf African Violet mix, which I'm using right now for some Begonia Maculata cuttings and Iron Cross leaf propagations, otherwise my go to is the fine Bio Leaf Indoor Potting Mix.

Other popular propagation substrates include perlite, and for seeds and seedlings vermiculite is very popular. For the best of both worlds there's also hydromix.

What increases the chance of successful propagation?

There are SO many products available to help, but my 'secret' combo are a dip in GT Clonex protective rooting gel, followed by a little GT Clonex Clone Solution root fertiliser mixed in every time I water the substrate. That magic combo seals cuttings to keep rot away, increases how fast a cutting starts to root, then grows stronger roots faster, ready to pot up sooner.

easy to set up with great results

i’ve been using these propagation domes with sphagnum moss to propagate many plants; fittonia, alocasia, string of turtles etc. they have all been successfully and i love how the domes have an airflow chamber to customise humidity for each type of cutting.

Handy little gems

I bought these to get free shipping but I had some leaf cuttings arrive at the same so I gave them a go and the cuttings have all rooted without haveing to use my prop box or tent, just a heat mat. I've also just had a macadamia nut germinated and cloned 2 old chillies. They rinse out like brand new. Btw I like Ann's personal touch on her products, it makes a difference.

"By far the best customer care I've had in a long time. Website is such a wealth of information and the email with instructions for use after my purchase was fantastic. The pipette for measuring the correct amount was such a great inclusion, and the personalised message on the package was very cool. Definitely my go to shop for plant supplies now.
